Abstract
Traditional static pressure reset (SPR) control strategies for variable air volume (VAV) systems only focus on controlling the room temperature while neglecting the room pressure, leading to unbalanced pressure distribution and air leakage. A model-based SPR control strategy that aims to achieve the desired room temperature while simultaneously neutralizing room pressure was proposed in this study. This strategy controls both the supply air side, including the supply air fan and VAV dampers, and the return air side, including the exhaust fan and the return air dampers of the room. The results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy successfully reduced air leakage, improved indoor thermal comfort, and enhanced energy efficiency. This strategy demonstrates its potential to be an effective approach for eliminating the impact of air leakage in buildings with poor airtightness.
